England defeated New Zealand by four wickets in a closely contested Super 8 T20 World Cup clash in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Friday night.
England chased down New Zealand’s total of 159 for the loss of 7 wickets.
England needed just four runs from the last over to secure victory and managed to do so with a boundary.
Rehan Ahmed and Will Jacks’ rapid 44-run partnership turned the game in England’s favour.
New Zealand chose to bat first and although Jofra Archer bowled a maiden first over, openers Tim Seifert and Finn Allen picked up 54 runs in the powerplay.
The English spinners reined back the 2021 finalists, however, with Adil Rashid getting Seifert (35) stumped and Allen (29)
England’s win keeps Pakistan in the tournament, as they need to win by 65 runs or chase inside 13 overs to qualify for the semi-finals.
