Tshwane Mayor places MMC Kholofelo Morodi on special leave – SABC News

City of Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya has placed ActionSA Councillor and Corporate and Shared Services MMC Kholofelo Morodi on special leave with immediate effect.
This is pending a preliminary investigation into the allegations raised before the Madlanga Commission to determine whether a prima facie case exists.
This comes after evidence at the Madlanga Commission allegedly showed her sharing internal land lease tender documents with the current witness and police sergeant, Fannie Nkosi.
The City says it treats matters of this nature with the utmost seriousness, as they speak to the principles of transparency, accountability, and ethical governance expected of all public office bearers.
Mayoral Spokesperson Samkelo Mgobozi says this move is in the interest of protecting the City’s integrity.
“In terms of this authority, the Executive Mayor has placed on special leave pending the outcome of this process. MMC will act in this portfolio during the intervening period. This step is intended to ensure continuity in the functioning of the corporate and shared services portfolio, and to allow the investigative process to proceed without any perception of interference. to support this process, the executive mayor will therefore formally write to the Secretary of the Commission, Dr Nolita Rugosa.”

Meanwhile, the Madlanga Commission has heard how Tshwane Chief Financial Officer Gareth Mnisi requested that Sergeant Fannie Nkosi send him his brother, Bheki’s, company vendor number.
Sergeant Nkosi is currently answering questions at the Madlanga Commission about his relationship with Mnisi. Evidence before the Madlanga Commission is that Mnisi also sent Bheki and Sergeant Nkosi the details of a tender which was for the offloading of refuse bags in the City of Tshwane.
When evidence leader Advocate Matthew Chaskalson asked why Mnisi wanted Bheki’s vendor number, Sergeant Nkosi told the Commission that his brother was having a hard time getting work at the City of Tshwane.
“Why was he interested in your brother’s company’s vendor number in the city? Actually, he was not interested. I was interested because I raised it with him that my brother is busy applying for different jobs in Tshwane and is not getting any. Then he said, no, maybe something is not okay. Can you please send his vendor number so that I can check?”
