Johannesburg Emergency Services says its teams are on high alert following a weather warning for severe thunderstorms expected across most parts of the city.
Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi has urged residents and motorists to exercise caution and avoid flooded roads, streams and drainage channels.
He says disaster management teams and water rescue units have been deployed across all seven regions of Johannesburg.
“From our side, as the city of Johannesburg emergency management services, we remain on high alert with our specialised team. Our swift water rescue units, which are our specialised team, respond to water-related emergencies. We also have our disaster management monitoring teams in all seven regions of the city”, Mulaudzi says.
