Through their Hi-innovator Women Accelerator program, the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and Mastercard Foundation awarded Shs4.8 billion in seed funding to 66 female entrepreneurs.
This intervention is expected to generate 15,000 job opportunities for women and youths across the country, according to executives on March 14 in Kampala.
In addition to the seed funding, the entrepreneurs received business management training through the program’s self-directed online Business Academy, with assistance from nationally recognized entrepreneurial support organizations. Between November 2022 and January 2023, the women entrepreneurs were skilled in financial literacy, compliance, marketing, and bookkeeping, among other things.
The NSSF Hi-Innovator Women Accelerator is a women-only cohort designed to provide equal opportunities for women entrepreneurs from all sectors to improve their business skills and grow their businesses into resilient enterprises that are more competitive and better positioned to receive financial services.
