Museveni set for state visit to Kenya this week

President Museveni is set to go for a state visit to Kenya later this week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary, Vincent Bagiire has said.Bagiire was speaking during the  second session of the Uganda-Kenya joint ministerial commission on cooperation currently underway at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel.The meeting in Kampala from May 12-14   has brought together senior technical officials from both countries including the Permanent Secretaries to deliberate on various matters aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation.Bagiire said that in light of the forthcoming visit, the holding of the joint ministerial commission “could not havecome at a better time,”He said Uganda attaches great importance to its bilateral relations and cooperation with the Republic of Kenya but also  expressed pleasure that both countries have made tremendous progress in implementing most of thedecisions of the inaugural meeting, particularly in addressing tariff and non- tariff barriers to trade.The Principal Secretary Dr. Korir Singoei, in a speech read by Amb. Dennis Mburu,Director for Africa at Kenya’s Department for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, thanked the government of Uganda for convening the JMC and the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the Kenya delegation.He emphasized the significance of bilateral engagement in deepening socio-economic development and fostering strong partnerships.He commended the progress made during the session and called for continued collaboration.At the conclusion of the meeting the Permanent Secretaries, expressed optimism about the outcomes, with agreements reached with a number of MOUs to  of Memoranda of Understanding be signed during the joint ministerial commission scheduled for May 14 .https://www.ugbulletin.co.ug/museveni-set-for-state-visit-to-kenya-this-week/
