Nakivubo Stadium is gearing up for a triumphant return to action as it prepares to open its doors to the public on June 1, 2024.
The long-awaited reopening promises a day filled with exhilarating sports events that are sure to captivate fans from across the nation.
Scheduled to headline the festivities are two football matches, along with electrifying bouts in both boxing and kickboxing.
Football enthusiasts can look forward to thrilling friendlies featuring URA against Kitara, as well as the highly anticipated derby between SC Villa and Express.
In the boxing arena, fans will witness an intense clash between Isaac Zebra who recently turned pro take on Kitaka Ibrahim, while the kickboxing spectacle will see National Icon Moses Golola square off against his bitter rival Umar Ssemata.

Assuring the safety and security of all attendees, certified FIFA and CAF Safety and Security Officer, Dixon Bond Okello, affirmed that a comprehensive security apparatus, including highly trained stewards and police personnel, will be in place to safeguard the event.
The grand reopening of Nakivubo Stadium marks the culmination of extensive renovations that began in June 2017.
Hugely funded by businessman Ham Kiggundu, the refurbishment project aimed to modernize and enhance the stadium’s facilities to meet international standards.
In a momentous ceremony on April 25, 2024, President Museveni officially commissioned the revamped stadium, heralding a new era.
