The Annual African Descent Summit 2024 in Toronto is set to be an unforgettable event, especially with the Jamaican star Korexion headlining the festivities. Keipher Scott, better known by his stage name Korexion, comes from a lineage of highly talented musicians in Jamaica. His journey in music began in the famed Trench Town, often referred to as “Trench Town University,” where he absorbed the rich culture and soul of reggae music. This deep connection to his roots has profoundly influenced his career, merging the essence of traditional reggae with contemporary rhythms.

Korexion shares a unique bond with his childhood neighborhood and the spirit of the late reggae legend Bob Marley. His first guitar, a significant symbol of his musical journey, belonged to Marley, and this connection to the icon has continually inspired Korexion. Every year on Bob Marley’s birthday, Korexion returns to his hometown to perform, honoring the legend’s legacy and his own roots.

Growing up in the challenging environment of Trench Town, marked by poverty, violence, and political unrest, Korexion faced and overcame numerous obstacles. His determination to be a voice of change has been a driving force in his music, characterized by clean lyrics and a lovers’ rock feel, spreading messages of love and positivity worldwide. This mission resonates in his songs and his presence in the music industry.

Korexion’s talent and dedication have not gone unnoticed. He is a prestigious Canadian Juno Award winner for Best Reggae Recording of the Year, among other accolades. Despite his success, he remains grounded and deeply connected to his roots, regularly visiting Jamaica to draw inspiration and embrace the cultural foundations of reggae.

Recently, Korexion signed with the Canadian independent label 3P Entertainment. Together, they have been diligently working on his career, resulting in the release of a new EP titled “Dreams,” which features both new tracks and previous releases. The title track, “Dreams,” released on April 5, 2021, is available on all streaming platforms, accompanied by a lyrics video.
