Kakiika Mohammed, Principal of Vienna College Namugongo, has emphasized the importance of integrating entrepreneurial skills into children’s education, arguing that this approach will foster a mindset of innovation and societal impact.

Kakiika highlighted that the world today is driven by entrepreneurs such as Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates, who, despite dropping out of college, succeeded due to their strong entrepreneurial spirit.

“Education should cultivate entrepreneurial skills among learners. Whether one becomes an engineer or pursues any other profession, integrating business thinking is crucial to making a significant impact in society,” Kakiika asserted.

The Vienna College Principal made these remarks during the release of the May-June 2024 Cambridge examination results at the Cambridge Centre on Tuesday.

As in previous years, girls outperformed boys at both levels, which Kakiika attributed to the school’s learner-centered curriculum. He noted that girls tend to excel due to their natural multitasking abilities.

Addressing claims that students in international schools do not work hard, Kakiika dismissed them, stating that persistence and determination are key factors contributing to their success.

Emmanuel Amunyo, the school’s careers advisor, emphasized that students are regularly briefed on various career pathways, ensuring they make informed decisions about their futures and secure merit-based admissions to public universities.

“This is part of our daily routine. By the time our students sit for their final exams, most have already received conditional offers from prestigious universities worldwide,” Amunyo explained.

William Galiwango, an economics tutor at the college, expressed his gratitude for the support system that equips them with the necessary tools to consistently perform well, crediting both the administration and his fellow tutors for their success.

In the May-June 2024 Cambridge International exams, Vienna College had 254 candidates, with 114 sitting for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), equivalent to O’ Level, and 140 for A2, equivalent to A’ Level. Adubango Reanna Amiya emerged as the top-performing student across borders.
