Tamale Mirundi Special Tribute to Air on Radio 4 Tonight

Tamale Mirundi died at around 11 PM, on Tuesday from lung related illnesses at Kisubi hospital in Kampala, where he had been hospitalized for a month.

Radio 4, where Tamale Mirundi has featured on the Gwensonga Show every Tuesday for the last 3 years, will this evening pay a special tribute to the deceased political commentator.

Its sister station, where he also appeared at the same time, will also relay the tribute.

The special broadcast, which will be relayed live at 7 PM, will look back at Tamale Mirundi’s life and career from his start as a newspaper vendor through his professional career as a journalist and political analyst.

The show will also feature new and archival interviews of the deceased and as well engagement some of his Radio and TV hosts.

The public and friends will also have a chance to voice their condolences.

Radio 4’s Station Manager, Kungu Al-mahadi Adam alias Adam Kungu, says the special tribute is intended to honour the deceased for his contribution to growing the station’s listenership.

“Mirundi’s has been one of the most listened to shows on Radio 4, and so we have decided to honour him by bringing the memories as well as voicing his thoughts in a special way for the last time,” Kungu says.

Mirundi was President Yoweri Museveni’s press secretary for 13 years.

Mirundi, self described as President Museveni’s “barking dog” was let go in 2012 and replaced by his long time deputy Lindah Nabusayi, also a former journalist with Daily Monitor and The Weekly Observer.

President Museveni reassigned Mirundi a presidential advisor on media.

He died at around 11 PM, on Tuesday from lung related illnesses at Kisubi hospital in Kampala, where he had been hospitalized for a month.

He was born on June 30, 1964, from Rakai District, Uganda.
