Rashid Kawawa completed his move to seven-time Uganda Premier League (UPL) winners, Express FC.

The midfielder joined the Red Eagles as a free agent, having parted ways with Arua Hill SC in the previous season.

Express unveiled Kawawa on Friday.

He was named in the Red Eagles’ starting lineup in an international friendly match that ended goalless against Kenya’s AFC Leopards at Hamz Stadium – Nakivubo.

“New home, new challenges, new goals,” the Westnile star said, shortly afer joining one of Uganda’s biggest teams.

Kawawa, also commonly as ‘Olu’ made a very big name for himself in Arua, since joining Arua Hill, then Doves All Stars from Oli Rising Stars.

He has now gained so much experience playing in the Big League and the UPL with Arua Hill over the past four years.

In the 2020/21 season, Kawawa scored six goals as Arua Hill won the Big League title unbeaten, and earnede promotion to the UPL.

In his debut UPL season with Arua Hill, the forward was instrumental as the Arua-based side finished fourth on the 16-team table.

In that same 2021/22 campaign, Kawawa was voted UPL’s Best Young Player Of The Season, he contributed eleven goals for his team, scoring eight and providing three assists.

In the last two seasons at Arua Hill, things didn’t go quite exactly as planned for the youngster, as injuries saw him play fewer games, and he managed just six goals altogether.

Arua Hill’s withdrawal from the league mid last season also greatly affected Kawawa’s progress, but he’s back now, to rejuvenate himself at Express – the same club his elder brother, Safi Mansoor played for last season.
