Bright Stars Tie Down Key Players To New Contracts
Bright Stars have made sure they hold on to two of their key players ahead of the new Uganda Premier League (UPL) season.
Goalkeeper Derrick Were and midfielder Fiat Cleophus have both committed to the the club for another season, after signing one-year contracts respectively.
Were’s journey with Bright Stars began in the club’s Junior Team. He left to Kyetume, before rejoining Bright Stars in 2021.
The goalkeeper has since become an invaluable member of the team’s squad – showcasing his talent and dedication both on and off the pitch.
Like Were, Fiat also joined Bright Stars in 2021, from Kigezi HomeBoyz. The midfielder has since become a very vital part of the team set-up.
Fiat has earned alot of admiration from fans and teammates alike, for his composure, calmness, and masterful control of the game from the center of the park.
Last season, Bright Stars finished nineth of 16 UPL teams. They accumulated 36 points from 29 games, comprising six wins, 15 draws and seven losses.
