KAMPALA– Today, 18th November 2025, Mr. Lino Anguzu has assumed office as the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). This followed the handover of the DPP’s office to him by the Hon. The Principal Judge/outgoing DPP. The handover ceremony was presided over by the Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Ms. Agnes Kainza Nzogi, who ensured that it was done in accordance with the Public Service Standing Orders.

The handover took place in the presence of the members of Top and Senior Management.
Mr. Lino Anguzu was recently appointed DPP by H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa, President of the Republic of Uganda, after he appointed Hon. Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo to assume the office of Principal Judge.
During the handover, Hon. Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo congratulated Mr. Lino Anguzu on his appointment as DPP. She welcomed him to the helm of the
ODPP. She appreciated H.E. the President for appointing a prosecutor as DPP, observing it as an advantage to Mr. Lino Anguzu in executing his upcoming duties. She advised Mr. Lino Anguzu to be firm in his decision–making, provided it is anchored in the law. She highlighted the challenges and opportunities of the office and assured the new DPP that he was inheriting a good team that stood by and supported her.
In his inaugural speech, Mr. Lino Anguzu remarked that he was humbled and honoured to receive the baton of DPP from the Hon. Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo, acknowledging the hand of God in it. He appreciated H.E. the President for the appointment.
He also appreciated the Hon. Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo for competently and remarkably steering the ODPP over the past five years, as well as for mentoring and nurturing him. He congratulated her upon her appointment as Principal Judge and wished her the best of luck in her new assignment.
Additionally, he appreciated the contributions of the members of Top lManagement to his growth and development in the office. He emphasized the focus of 3 Ds by all staff during his tenure: Devotion to God and hard work, Discipline and Dedication to work, as the institution works towards the realization of its 5–year strategic plans.
Ms. Kainza Agnes Nzogi welcomed Mr. Lino Anguzu to the office on behalf of the ODPP staff, pledging their support and further blessed his tenure. She also appreciated Hon. Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo for her remarkable stewardship of the ODPP for the past 5 years and blessed her.
Today’s handover ceremony marks a new chapter in the journey of the ODPP as we continue to provide professional and responsive prosecution services that command public trust and contribute to national transformation.
