South Sudan Face Major Injury Worry Ahead Of Uganda Tie

South Sudan will miss the services of two key players, captain Peter Manyang and right wingback Joseph Dhata ahead of the crucial 2025 AFCON Qualifier Group K double-header against Uganda.

Manyang, who plays for AFC Leopards in Kenya and Dhata who plays for NEC in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) have both been ruled out with injuries.

The two defenders are were not named on the Bright Stars’ 26-man provisional squad released on Wednesday – they’re not part of coach Nichola Dupuis’ plans for the next two games that will be played in a space of just four days.

South Sudan will first visit Uganda at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Friday, October 11, before hosting the Cranes in Juba Stadium on Tuesday, October 15.

Meanwhile, more than ten players of Ugandan descent including Rashid Toha, Geriga Atendele, Rashid Okocha, Emmanuel Loki, Gadafi Wahab, Tito Okello, Francis Onekalit and Alfred Leku amongst others have all been selected in South Sudan’s squad.

Uganda still lead the table with four points, same as South Africa, but the Cranes have a superior +1 goal difference over Bafana Bafana. Congo is third with three points and South Sudan last of the four teams, with no single point in three games.
