Museveni Commends Permanent Secretaries for Aligning Behind NRM

President Museveni has thanked Permanent Secretaries for the decision to align with the National Resistance Movement, saying this will make them contributors to the socio-economic transformation as prescribed by the NRM.
Museven who was on 17th October meeting the Permanent Secretaries at State House Entebbe, reminded them that they are obliged to execute their supervision role as provided for in article 174 of the constitution of the Republic of Uganda, to ensure achievement of the socio-economic transformation through the four sectors of commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services and ICT.

The President charged the Permanent Secretaries as top technocrats with the responsibility of internalizing the fact that society must undergo socio-economic transformation, adding that this is what has led to progressive growth of the country’s economy.
He stressed the work of private players which he said is manifested in the government’s resolve to place the economy in the hands of the population, adding that this is the reason for visible economic growth despite problems like corruption.

Museveni underscored the Permanent Secretaries’ role in stopping corruption saying that being in charge of government money, personnel and procurement, they hold in their hands a big portion of the task.
On workers seeking early retirement based on the government salary enhancement strategy, he advised them to follow the law and serve their terms as prescribed. He threatened to write an executive order to that effect.
