KOLE: Olipa Primary School Head Teacher Remanded Over Shs 10.2M UPE Funds Theft

Kole: The head teacher of Olipa Primary School has been remanded to Kole Government Prison after allegedly withdrawing and disappearing with Shs 10.2 million meant for the school under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) programme.
The suspect appeared on Thursday before Her Worship Adelo Susan, Grade One Magistrate, who ordered his immediate remand as investigations continue.

According to police records at Kole Central Police Station, the head teacher allegedly walked into Stanbic Bank, Lira Branch on 2 October 2025, withdrew the UPE funds from the school account, and then fled to South Sudan, leaving the school without operational money.
He reportedly resurfaced on 20 November 2025, more than six weeks after vanishing, prompting police to effect his arrest.

The matter is being handled under Case File CRB 490/2025 at Kole CPS.
Prosecution told court that the disappearance caused disruption to school activities, as the funds were meant to support learning materials and operations under the government’s UPE scheme.
The accused did not take plea as the State sought more time to complete investigations.
