TOORO KINGGDOM LAUNHES A YOUTH ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM IN KYEGEGWA WITH AN AIM TO ERADICATE POVETY IN YOUNG GENERATION.

Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire, together with senior Kingdom officials, has officially launched Phase Two of the Tooro Kingdom Youth Economic Empowerment Program, incubation centre, in Kyaka, Kyegegwa District.This Kingdom’s drive is meant toward economic transformation, youth empowerment and fight poverty.The launch event featured the symbolic planting of coffee, Mango, jackfruit and cocoa mother gardens, as well as the commissioning of modern seedling nursery beds capable of producing one million high-quality seedlings in each of the nine counties of the Kingdom.This large-scale agricultural initiative aims to boost productivity, create sustainable youth employment, and enhance household incomes across the region.Speaking during the launch held at Nyarubabu Village, Mailo 8,Wednesday 3rd 2025, Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong said that the newly commissioned structure will host a state-of-the-art hatchery and a fully equipped ICT Centre, providing young people with access to agricultural training, digital skills, innovation spaces, and modern enterprise opportunities.Prime Minister Armstrong expressed deep appreciation to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for his steadfast support of both the project and the Tooro Kingdom.He praised the President’s commitment to community empowerment, local economic development, and youth-led initiatives, noting that this support has been pivotal in advancing the Kingdom’s development agenda.Bamwenda Emanuel an area resident, said is optimistic to get chicks, work in the farm, get money and educate his children for a better future.Tunwebaze Rodgers as a resident of Mpara B is also hoping for employment as a casual laborer in the project.William Kamanyire the Kingdom Saza Chief Kyegegwa applauded the kingdom for supporting the residents saying the project will enable them to increase their household income, educate their children, eliminate domestic violence which come as a result of poverty.
