NUP Secretary General Attacked in Kisenyi as Alleged Ballot Stuffing » The Hoima Post –

Fresh tensions have emerged from Kisenyi following disturbing reports of violence and alleged electoral malpractice during Uganda’s ongoing election process. According to opposition sources, goons affiliated with Hajat Minsa Kabanda attacked the Secretary General of the National Unity Platform (NUP), David Lewis Rubongoya, and vandalized his vehicle in broad daylight.
The incident reportedly occurred as NUP officials were monitoring polling activities in the area. Party officials claim they caught the attackers red-handed engaging in ballot stuffing, an allegation that has further inflamed concerns over the credibility and transparency of the electoral process.
Eyewitnesses say chaos erupted when the suspects were confronted, leading to a physical attack on Rubongoya and damage to his car. The attackers allegedly fled the scene as tensions escalated, leaving behind evidence that opposition officials say points to organized electoral fraud.
“This is a shameful act and a direct assault on democracy,” an NUP representative said, condemning both the violence and the alleged manipulation of ballots. The party has called on the Electoral Commission and security agencies to immediately investigate the incident and hold those responsible accountable.
The attack adds to a growing list of reported irregularities and intimidation incidents across the country, particularly in opposition strongholds. Civil society groups and election observers have repeatedly warned that violence, ballot tampering, and the use of armed or hired groups undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
As of the time of publication, police had not issued an official statement regarding the attack or the allegations of ballot stuffing in Kisenyi. Opposition leaders are demanding swift action, transparency, and guarantees for the safety of political actors and voters alike as the election process continues.
The developments in Kisenyi underscore rising tensions nationwide and renew urgent calls for free, fair, and peaceful elections in Uganda.
