Archbishop Kaziimba launched the tour in the Diocese of Kigezi, where he urged Ugandans to embrace peace, forgiveness and unity following the 2026 general elections. Addressing congregants at Rugarama Convention Hill in Kabale, the Archbishop emphasized the Church’s role in fostering reconciliation and national cohesion during periods of political transition.
During the visit, he also officiated at the launch of the Diocese of Kigezi’s five-year strategic plan under the theme “Holistically Empowered and Self-Sustaining Communities,” aimed at strengthening spiritual growth, social transformation and economic empowerment.
The Archbishop called upon Christians and political leaders to work collaboratively for Uganda’s stability, development and lasting peace, noting that unity remains essential for national progress. He further commended the Bishop of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, for his steadfast leadership and commitment to the growth of the Diocese.
Archbishop Kaziimba’s retirement will usher in a significant transition within the Church of Uganda, with at least five other bishops also expected to retire next year, marking a pivotal moment in the Church’s leadership renewal.
