Butambala, Uganda — Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi has on Tuesday returned to Butambala Magistrates Court amid heavy security as proceedings in his case resumed.

Kivumbi was transported to court in a Uganda Prisons Service bus under tight guard and, upon arrival, was escorted to the court holding cells as he awaited the start of the session.
Present at the court premises were lawyers from Lukwago and Company Advocates, led by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, alongside leaders of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and relatives of the legislator.

Despite drizzling weather, supporters and members of Kivumbi’s legal and political team arrived early, demonstrating solidarity as the case resumed.

The prosecution, led by Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Rachael Bikhole, alleges that between January 11 and January 17, 2026, Kivumbi, together with others still at large, coordinated and executed a series of violent attacks in Kibibi Town Council and Gombe Town Council in Butambala District.
Court proceedings are expected to commence very soon.
