Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner, Shadrack Sibiya.

Sibiya denies granting Matlala access to SAPS training college – SABC News

Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner General Shadrack Sibiya has testified at the Madlanga Commission that he has never helped alleged crime boss Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala to obtain access to the SAPS training college.
The training college would form part of a now withdrawn legal challenge by Matlala, where he admitted to police that Sibiya had granted him permission to use the college for new recruits.
Sibiya was questioned by evidence leader Adila Hassim.
Hassim: “Did you assist Mr Matlala in obtaining access to the training college or to the use of the training college in a particular way at this point in time in 2024, or in January 2024? ”
Sibiya: “No, and I’m far from that process as well. So, I could not, even if I wanted to, from where I am operating, I can’t even put my finger on it, that is far from me.”
Audit report sharing
Meanwhile, the commission heard how Sibiya shared a confidential audit report with Sergeant Fannie Nkosi.
Nkosi is the alleged middleman between Sibiya and Matlala.
The audit report had adverse findings against Matlala’s company.
The commission’s Chairperson Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga has put it to Sibiya that he shared the document with Nkosi so he could forward it to Matlala.
Madlanga: “In fact, that audit report says in so many words that there should be a termination. So, I’m suggesting to you that you were indirectly alerting Mr Matlala through Sergeant Nkosi that, look, there’s trouble brewing here.”
Sibiya: “In my case chair, I was not indirectly informing Mr Matlala, I was sharing with him Nkosi.”
