Day 10 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Cases public hearings today will hear the testimony of two individuals related to the Afrikaner Interest group, Afriforum.
Its CEO, Kallie Krie,l is expected to ask the commission to ensure that the principle of equality before the law is restored by focusing not only on the prosecuted members of the armed forces, but also on all those who have failed to apply for or obtain amnesty, including the so-called African National Congress (ANC) 37.
The other witness is Jacob van der Merwe, whose father was murdered in November 1998.
The suspect never applied for TRC amnesty and has never been prosecuted.
Afriforum alleges the failure to prosecute was intentional on the part of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
