Paul O'Sullivan walks out while evidence leader Adv Bongiwe Mkhize is still busy asking questions at Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee on February 26, 2026.

O’Sullivan breached Parliamentary rules: EFF

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says it believes that private investigator Paul O’Sullivan has breached the Powers, Privileges and Immunities Act.
This comes after O’Sullivan left the hearings of Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee on Thursday without the Chairperson, Soviet Lekganyane, granting him leave of absence.
O’Sullivan said he was rushing to catch a flight.
The EFF has confirmed writing to National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza, demanding that she lay a criminal complaint against O’Sullivan.
The party argues that such a move would give the public confidence that Parliament cannot be trampled on.
Meanwhile, Didiza says she will decide on a course of action against O’Sullivan once she has received a report from the chairperson of the Ad Hoc Committee.
Didiza says she is concerned about the implications of O’Sullivan’s conduct for Parliament’s ability to discharge its constitutional obligation to exercise oversight and interrogate the serious allegations before the Ad Hoc Committee.
The Speaker has also pointed out that the Powers, Privileges and Immunities Act prohibits any person from improperly interfering with or impeding the exercise of Parliament’s authority or functions.
Didiza says she will wait for the committee’s report before deciding what action to take.
