KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli says the economy of the province has been showing signs of recovery after the devastations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2021 unrest.
Ntuli was delivering his third State of the Province Address (SOPA) in Pietermaritzburg.
He added that the province received R100 billion in investment pledges from both domestic and international investors.
However, it requires more than 400 000 jobs to reduce unemployment from just over 30% where it is now to 20% as is planned.
“Our provincial economy grew by 1.8%, moderate however, but encouraging improvement from the subdued growth rates that characterised the post COVID-19 period,” says Ntuli.
