Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee says it will soon write to private investigator Paul O’Sullivan to request him to return to complete his testimony.
National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza says she has not yet received a report from the committee on the circumstances leading to O’Sullivan staging a walkout.
On Thursday O’Sullivan left before completing his testimony, saying he was rushing to catch a flight.
Didiza says she will only consider what action to take against him after receiving the report from the committee.
On Friday, the EFF laid a criminal charge against O’Sullivan.
The committee’s chairperson, Soviet Lekganyane, says, “We must prove that a reasonable action has been taken before we arrive at a decision to subpoena the witness, and the reasonable action we are going to take, honourable members, is the same laborious and tedious action of engaging with the witness, including writing to him to inform him that the committee wants him to appear before it on a particular date.”
