Five children from the same family have died in a fire at a house in Ballito on the north coast of Durban.
The children are aged 1 (twins), 3, 14 and 19 years old.
The parents of the household managed to escape the blaze with burns.
Reports indicate that the fire happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.

KwaDukuza Local Municipality Head of Communication, Sifiso Zulu, says the matter is being investigated.
“The KwaDukuza municipality’s fire and emergency services received a call around 5 am this morning. When the fire emergency services reached the scene, the house had already been burnt down. What was discovered is that the mother had severe wounds. She was taken to the hospital, and the father escaped with my injuries. Five children could not survive the place, and they had already passed away. The matter is under investigation.”
