Analysts have called for African nations to work together in the fight against the war in Sudan.
Heavy civilian casualties have been reported after a surge in drone strikes along the new frontline in Kordofan.
Fighting has shifted to the region nearly three years into the civil war.
At the UN Human Rights Council, foreign ministers say the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attacks in al-Fasher show signs of a genocide.
The UN Security Council has announced new sanctions on four leaders of the group.
Security analyst Diyeli Aigbe says, “If you look at the international order, war is very expensive so, who is funding it? There are some people benefiting from this. So sad that African leaders should come together, put their heads together, you cannot be sitting there and looking and expecting the other world to come in to intervene. The African leader should come together; we have the capacity to do it. Africa needs to wake up and solve this problem; we cannot just fold our hands. I believe the African leaders, Nigeria, South Africa and other the big leaders can come together form that synergy.”
