Death toll in the Ormonde building collapse rises to eight


The death toll in the Ormonde building collapse has risen to eight. 
Johannesburg Emergency Services spokesperson, Xolile Khumalo, says rescue and recovery operations resumed Tuesday morning after being suspended on Monday night. 
She says one person remains unaccounted for.  
“Recovery operations have commenced for three missing individuals who have been located, and teams are currently working to extract them from beneath the concrete slab. One person remains unaccounted for, bringing the total confirmed death toll to eight. Operations were suspended late yesterday evening. EMS and various stakeholders resumed the search this morning.”
