JUST IN COPE Leader Mosiuoa Lekota passes away

FS Premier hails Lekota’s ‘immense’ contribution to democracy

Free State Premier Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae says the late founding leader of Congress of the People (COPE), Mosiuoa Lekota, contributed immensely to the formation of a democratic South Africa.
Lekota passed away on Wednesday at the age of 77.
Letsoha-Mathae has paid tribute to Lekota and recalled working alongside him in the early 90s.
She has also extended her deepest condolences to the Lekota family.
“He would laugh loud and he’ll have that smile in meetings, but when he was confronted with real issues, you can say whatever he was just, the name Terror will now come if he has to push his way. If he believed in one thing, he would push it in the meeting to a point that he would even stand up in a meeting and say this is my view, and I believe in this. And this is how the organisation works and you’re not going to tell me because I’ve been in the ANC organisation, you know that’s the character of Ntate ‘Terror’ he was with us during those time of course, there were some issues.”
