Firefighters battle blaze in Imizamo Yethu, Hout Bay

Firefighters are battling to contain a fire which broke out in Imizamo Yethu informal settlement in Hout Bay, Cape Town. The extent of the damage is unclear at this stage and emergency services are on the scene.
Cape Town Fire and Rescue Spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, says, “The first arriving officer requested additional resources, including an incident management team type four. Currently, we have firefighters on the scene from various fire stations. Law enforcement agencies were requested as some residents became hostile towards the crews.”
