AfriForum hails Lekota as a steadfast decision maker

AfriForum has hailed the late Congress of the People (COPE) leader Mosiuoa Lekota as one of the few politicians who was willing to take an unpopular stance.
The organisaton says Lekota did not hesitate to stand united alongside the civil organisation in 2018 to protect property rights.
In 2018, COPE joined forces with AfriForum against the African National Congress’ plan to amend the constitution in order to expropriate land without compensation.
Lekota passed away last week and will be laid to rest this Saturday in Bloemfontein in the Free State.
AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel says Lekota was steadfast in decision making.
“The country is a poorer place without Mr Lekota. He was a man that commanded great respect and AfriForum honours him. We also want to send our condolences to his friends and family. I personally had the privilege to work with Mr Lekota in 2018 when we signed an agreement to work for the protection of the country’s constitution specifically property rights. Mr Lekota was an engaging man but was also steadfast, he believed in what was right.”
