Boksburg scholar transport accident sparks safety concerns

A vehicle transporting learners is reported to have crashed in Dawn Park, Boksburg, east of Johannesburg.
Details are still sketchy.
Between 2018 and 2022, over 800 learners have been killed in crashes involving scholar transport vehicles.
Concerns are being raised about the rising number of crashes involving scholar transport.
In January this year, eleven learners were killed while on their way to school in a scholar transport in Gauteng.
The case against 22-year-old scholar transport driver, Ayanda Dludla, resumed before the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates’ Court last week.
Dludla faces 14 counts of murder, three of attempted murder, and a charge of driving without a valid permit.
