Self-incrimination concerns raised as Chetty heads to Ad Hoc

Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee will today hear the evidence of four witnesses who are members of the public. The committee is investigating allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system.
Friday’s four public submissions follow that of Kishene Chetty.
Members of the committee expressed mixed views about Kishene’s evidence. They were concerned that it was about pending cases against him.

Their main concern was the possibility that he might incriminate himself. He was, however, allowed to testify.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) walked out of the proceedings, saying it is deeply uncomfortable to participate. The committee has a deadline of the 31st of March.
