In a heartwarming thanksgiving ceremony held at the Catholic Shrine Basilica in Namugongo, students, teachers, and parents of Uganda Martyrs Secondary School Namugongo gathered to celebrate the exceptional performance of the school’s students in the 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams. The event, filled with gratitude, reflected the collective effort that led to the remarkable success.
Rev. Father Alex Ssemogerere, the school chaplain, led the Mass and thanked the parents for their unwavering support in providing school fees and necessary resources that enabled their children to achieve such impressive results. He also urged current candidates to remain focused, as their peers had demonstrated that excellence was attainable under the new curriculum. “If your colleagues can do it, so can you,” Ssemogerere said, encouraging students to give their best in the upcoming UNEB exams.

Headmaster Rev. Father Henry Kasasa, addressing the gathering, expressed immense pride in the school’s outstanding achievement. He highlighted that 449 students sat for the 2024 UCE exams, and all of them excelled, earning As and Bs across all subjects. “This is a testament to the success of the new curriculum,” Kasasa said, emphasizing that this was the first time students were assessed under the revised system. The school’s remarkable performance with all candidates qualifying for the UCE Certificate affirmed the effectiveness of the new approach.
Father Kasasa took a moment to thank the parents for their continued support and encouraged them to invest even more in their children’s education. He also praised the dedication of the teachers, noting that despite initial concerns about the transition to the new curriculum, their commitment and collaboration ensured that the students performed at their best. The teachers’ focus on understanding the students’ intellectual needs helped cultivate an environment conducive to success.
