Adams mentors boys to combat gangsterism, crime in Gauteng

Gauteng Legislature’s acting Chairperson of Committees, Dulton Adams, has held a series of mentorship sessions for young boys aimed at addressing the growing crisis of youngsters being lured into gangsterism, drugs and violent crimes in historically coloured communities.
The sessions were held in various areas, including Riverlea, Noordgesig, Westbury, Reiger Park, and Eldorado Park in Johannesburg.
There’s been an emerging trend in these areas of boys between the ages of 10 and 16 being recruited, manipulated or coerced to take part in violent criminal activities by older gang members and drug networks.
Adams says he supports President Cyril Ramaphosa’s authorisation of the deployment of the army to tackle crime and gangsterism.
“Last Thursday the army rolled in to Riverlea, Westbury and Eldos. Im saying as the army rolls in, so as the people coming from those communities must also roll in and help the boy child. The army is coming but the army can only deal with the issue of stabilising crime. It is the people of the communities that must go back and plough back and help the young boys. They are killing each other. But you cannot keep watching on social media to that this one is dead.”
