Mchunu ready to return to his ANC responsibilities: Mshengu

Embattled Police Minister Senzo Mchunu is ready to resume his political duties in the African National Congress. That’s according to his spokesperson Sithembiso Mshengu who was speaking at a prayer service in Durban in support of Mchunu.
Mshengu says Mchunu intends to write to the African National Congress (ANC)’s Secretary General Fikile Mbalula on his decision.
“He is giving serious consideration to notifying the ANC that he will return to his organisational responsibilities. Remember, he voluntarily wrote to the ANC requesting to be given an opportunity to go and attend to the ad hoc committee and other inquiries that were before him. We sincerely believe that he has done that. Even if he were to be called again, as I said earlier, he is prepared to go and appear before the commission. So there is nothing much that is left for him to clarify.”

Mchunu voluntarily stepped aside from his role as a member of the ANC National Executive Committee and the National Working Commitee.
This was after he was placed on special leave by President Cyril Ramaphosa following the allegations of interference with police activities and alleged collusion with criminal syndicates made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lt Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

A prayer service for the embattled police minister was held in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. 32 churches from various districts in KwaZulu-Natal attended the service in support of Mchunu, who has been on special leave since July last year.
He has since appeared before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
This man says he is Mchunu’s family and has outlined reasons for the prayer. “This is the third national prayer for senzo mchunu it shows that people want to pray for him and support him, which is why it was important to gather as a family we welcome and we are encouraged to know that religious people know that the truth must come out. While Senzo is at home, we want to see justice speed up and bring the truth to light.”
