South Africa are World Rugby’s 2025/26 Sevens series champions, the Blitzboks beat Fiji 10-seven in the final of the New York tournament, the last of the regular season, to clinch the title.
The two teams entered the New York tournament level on points and all South Africa needed to do was to finish ahead of the Pacific Islanders to be crowned champions and they did it by outscoring their rivals by two tries to one in a tense final.
It was the Blitzboks’ fourth tournament win of the season and their third in a row.
They also won the Cape Town event at the end of last year, before adding the Perth, Vancouver and New York titles to their collection.
