Bellarmine Mugabe, son of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, and his co-accused, Tobias Matonhodze, are back in the Alexandra Regional Court on Tuesday morning, where plea negotiations are expected to begin.
They are accused of shooting a 23-year-old gardener at the Mugabe residence in Hyde Park in February.
They face charges of attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, unlawful possession of a firearm, and contravening the Immigration Act.
The pair abandoned their bail application last week after the state argued they may be a flight risk due to their alleged illegal status.
The legal team representing Mugabe and Matonhodze has hinted that the pair may plead guilty to some of the charges.
The State has also accused them of being in the country illegally.
The State is expected to outline the seriousness of the charges, while the court will determine the next steps in the proceedings when the matter resumes.
