ANC distances itself from Ngcukayitobi’s letter on irregularities

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape has distanced itself from a letter written by its provincial secretary Lulama Ngcukayitobi to the party’s top brass.
In the letter, he highlights a number of alleged irregularities ahead of the provincial elective conference which is expected to take place, next Friday.
He has cited the unlawful issuing QR Codes for Branch General Meetings, membership system manipulation and the inconsistent application of the Step Aside Policy, among others.
Ngcukayitobi is expected to go head-to-head with the incumbent Provincial Chairperson Oscar Mabuyane, for the position of Chairperson.
ANC Provincial Spokesperson, Yanga Zicina, says Ngcukayitobi wrote the letter in his personal capacity and did not follow proper party structures before sending it.
“It does not represent the aspirations and the decisions of Provincial Executive Committee and that the provincial secretary would have then written such a letter in his personal capacity. The national officials and the deployees to the province will deal with the letter but dealing with it from a point of view of being the views of Lulama Ngcukayitobi himself and not those of the Provincial Executive Committee,” says Zicina.
