USSSA Lubaga Zonal Qualifiers Kick Off as Schools Eye Kampala Regional Slots

The race for a place at the Kampala regional stage gets underway today as the Lubaga Division Secondary Schools Sports Association launches its USSSA zonal qualifiers with a player screening exercise at Mengo Senior School.
The screening, scheduled for 2:00pm, marks the official start of a tightly packed competition that will see schools battle for just three available slots to represent Lubaga Division at the next level.
A total of eight teams have been drawn into two groups. Group A features Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga, Lubiri SS Annex, Bethel Parents SS Busega, and Mengo SS Annex, while Group B comprises Lubiri SS, Mengo SS, King Fahad Islamic SS, and a yet-to-be-confirmed late entrant.
Action on the pitch begins on Wednesday, March 25, with Group A matches hosted at Lubaga. Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga will face Bethel Parents SS in the opening fixture at 9:00am, before Lubiri SS Annex takes on Mengo SS Annex later in the morning. The afternoon session will see Mengo SS Annex return to action against Lubaga, while Lubiri SS Annex wraps up the day against Bethel Parents SS.
Simultaneously, Group B fixtures will be staged at Lubiri, where Mengo SS locks horns with King Fahad Islamic SS in the day’s opener. Hosts Lubiri SS will then face the late entrant before King Fahad returns to play the same opponent. The day will conclude with a highly anticipated clash between Mengo SS and Lubiri SS.
The group stage continues on Saturday, March 28, with decisive fixtures expected to shape the semifinal lineup. Mengo SS Annex will meet Bethel Parents SS, while Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga takes on Lubiri SS Annex at Lubaga. Over at Lubiri, the late entrant faces Mengo SS, and King Fahad Islamic SS squares off with Lubiri SS.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals scheduled for April 2. The winner of Group A will face the runner-up from Group B at Lubaga, while the runner-up from Group A will take on the Group B winner at Lubiri.
The competition will climax the same day with the third-place playoff and final both hosted at Mengo Senior School, as teams battle for zonal glory and qualification to the Kampala regional championships.
