ActionSA takes DA Top-Up allegations to Public Protector, Parliament


ActionSA has lodged a formal complaint with the Public Protector and Parliament’s Ethics Committee against senior Democratic Alliance (DA) public representatives.
The complaint relates to allegations that they received additional “Top-Up” payments from the party in possible violation of the Constitution.
Meanwhile, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Tshwane says it will write to the Speaker and Chief Whip of the council to determine whether DA mayoral candidate Cilliers Brink declared an alleged additional R62 000 he receives monthly.
Brink has denied any wrongdoing, stating that all required disclosures have been made.
“It’s not in fact clear what the complaint is about the income received by a councillor. I can assure you that all councillors have to declare their incomes and that I have done. With the municipal council I suspected that what this is about by two political parties who are in government in Tshwane is to distract the attention from the way that they have been implicated at the Madlanga Commission…” said Brink.
“The EFF will write to Tshwane and they are free to do so but what they have not explained to us is how the party leader is implicated in interfering with tenders in Tshwane,” he added.
