City of Tshwane Executive Mayor Nasiphi Moya says the rollout of a new fleet of 24 vehicles will strengthen law enforcement capacity across the metro ahead of the Easter holidays.
The fleet was unveiled by the City’s Metro Police Department at Olievenhoutbosch Park in Pretoria. The Easter period is associated with increased travel, large gatherings and a higher risk of criminal activity.
Moya says the additional vehicles will improve visibility on major routes and help reduce accidents and crime in identified hotspots.
“This Easter safety plan is built on visibility, enforcement and consequence. Today we are not just speaking, we are acting. An example is the 24 vehicles that we are adding to the TMPD team. They will increase patrol capacity, they will improve response times. They will ensure that our officers are present where they are needed the most,” said Moya.
The City says the initiative forms part of broader efforts to ensure safer roads and communities during the busy holiday period.
