The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), in partnership with the Department of Social Development and the National Development Agency, will host a service outreach programme at Mahlabathini Sport Ground in Verulam, Durban, on Friday.
The programme aims to provide on-site grant applications and biometric capturing for residents who do not have access to permanent offices.
SASSA spokesperson Mbizeni Mdlalose says community members are encouraged to bring their original identity documents and all necessary supporting documents.
“We will be doing community registration. It will be more like a mobile office that is coming to the community. We will also be assisting with the grant applications. There will also be Social Development and also NDA that will be assisting the community and the municipality,” says Mdlalose.
He adds, “We’ll also be handing over the school uniforms for children that are coming from poor backgrounds. That will also be able to assist with the school uniforms.”
