Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among has described as self- seekers, the youths who are protesting against corruption in the country.“You move around trying to destroy the country and saying Anita must resign. Resign and go where? I am still around, when you see the demonstrations that are in town (Kampala) they are demonstrating because they are self-seekers, these are people who don’t want us to respect values of our country,” Among said.The Speaker was on Sunday speaking during the opening of the shs2.7 billion St.Charles Lwanga Kigarama Church in Mitooma district constructed by Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa and his friends from the business community.Last week, youths hit Kampala streets to demonstrate against corruption in the country.These demanded the resignation of Speaker Anita Among and the four backbench commissioners as well as trimming the salaries and allowances for Members of Parliament among other conditions before they stop the march.A number of them have since been arrested by security agencies and arraigned in courts of law and remanded.Speaking on Sunday, Speaker Among said those who took to the streets to protest are self -seekers.“The Bible says Adam was given to Eve, Eve wasn’t given to Eve or Adam wasn’t given to Adam. So that’s why we are proud as parliament of Uganda. And when you see demonstrations that are in town now, are out of that. They are demonstrating because they are self-seekers. These are people who don’t want us to respect our values as Ugandans.
