Kasangati Police have granted police bond to Tumusiime Kakuru, a lawyer to Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, following his arrest on Monday afternoon in Magere, Wakiso District.

Kakuru was detained and later charged with public nuisance under case file number SD 57/16/2/26. According to police, he was released on bond at Kasangati Police Station and directed to report back on February 20, 2026, to the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department (OC CID) to receive updates on the progress of investigations.
Before securing his release, Kakuru presented two sureties, identified as Aryampa Brian and Nelson Mandela.
His arrest occurred when he had accompanied John Baptist Nambeshe, the Deputy President for the Eastern Region of the National Unity Platform (NUP), along with other lawyers to visit Kyagulanyi’s residence in Magere.
Police have not yet provided further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence.
