Boys’ Schools Cricket Week Back

It is all systems go for the Boys’ Schools Cricket Week that will be hosted in Jinja for the second year running.

The annual event will feature eighteen secondary schools that made it to this final through various regional qualifiers, and it will bowl off on Sunday across six venues including Jinja SSS (Main Oval), Jinja College (two venues), Busoga College Mwiri, Kakira SS, and Kiira PS. 

Perennial participants Kololo SS will sit this edition out after failing to make it through the qualifiers, but two schools will make their debuts in this edition.

They include Horizon International School and Shree Sahajanand School Uganda who qualified from the Nile and Central regions respectively.

Jinja SS will head into the tournament as defending champions, and they will hope to retain that tag, but they will have competition from especially their biggest rival Busoga College Mwiri who have won this trophy 19 times.

Mwiri were only as good as semifinalists last year following their lost to the eventual winners. They will head into this one looking to oust Jinja SS.

The tournament will run for a duration of seven days between 25-31 August.

The Participating Schools.

Eastern Region: Soroti SS, Teso College Aloet.

Northern Region: Gulu High School, St Josephs College Layibi.

Nile Region (Jinja): Jinja SS, Kira College Butiki, St James SS, Busoga College Mwiri, Horizon International School.

Central Region: Ndejje SS, Delhi Public School, Shree Sahajanand School Uganda, St Johns SS, Aga Khan High School, Kings College Budo.

Western Region: Nyakasura School,South Western Region: Masaka SS, Ntare School.
