Bright Vuni: URA Sign Defender

URA have confirmed the acquisition of hard-tackling defender Bright Vuni on a two-year contract from army side UPDF.

The no-nonsense defender is known for his defensive solidity and ability to contribute goals, the club consider him ‘a direct replacement’ for Najib Fesali who left to BUL.

Fesali was a dependable defender for the Nakawa-based side, but departed the club to the join the Eastern Giants following the expiration of his contract with the Tax Collectors.

Besides UPDF, Vuni has also previously played for Arua Hill, a period in which he earned a National Team call-up after forming a formidable defensive partnership with Rashid Toha at the Westnile club.

Vuni is only the third player to be officially unveiled by the Tax Collectors so far, after attacking midfielders Abraham Tusubira Isma Mugulusi.

However, URA have also signed goalkeepers Derrick Ochan from KCCA and Abdul Magada from Gadaffi, plus defender Ibrahim Kazindula from BUL.

Meanwhile, the club has also confirmed the exit of Ronald Andabati, Najib Fesali, Viane Ssekajugo, Eric Ssenjobe, Said Kyeyune, Ibrahim Dada and Samuel Mwaka.

The league kicks off this week, and URA start with an away tie against KCCA at the Phillip Omondi Stadium on Friday, September 13.
