Burial Programme Released for Slain UCU Dean Pamela Tumwebaze

Mukono– The burial committee for the late Pamela Tumwebaze, the Dean of Students at Uganda Christian University (UCU), has released the official programme leading to her final send-off following her tragic murder earlier this week.

Tumwebaze, who was serving at the university’s main campus in Mukono, was reportedly killed at her home in the early hours of this week, in a shocking incident that has left the university community and the wider public in grief.
According to the burial committee, activities commenced on Tuesday, 11th February 2026, with a vigil held at the home of Johnson Musinguzi in Nalya Estate, Kampala.
On Thursday, 12th February 2026, another vigil will be held at Emperor Hotel Nalya starting at 6:00pm, bringing together family members, colleagues, friends and members of the UCU fraternity to honour her life and legacy.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, 13th February 2026, at Uganda Christian University beginning at 10:00am. The body will later depart for Mbarara at 12:00pm. Upon arrival, a vigil will be held at Nkokonjeru in Mbarara starting at 6:00pm.
On Saturday, 14th February 2026, a night vigil will take place at Keigoshora, Rubaya in Kashari, Mbarara District.
The burial ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, 15th February 2026, beginning at 12:00pm at her ancestral home in Kashari.
Pamela Tumwebaze joined UCU in 2000 when the institution was only three years old, enrolling as a student. She completed her undergraduate studies in 2003 and went on to serve both within and outside the university over the past 21 years.
At the time of her death, she was serving as Dean of Students at UCU Mukono, a role in which she was widely regarded for her dedication to student welfare, mentorship, and Christian leadership.
Her death has sparked widespread mourning within the university community, with colleagues describing her as committed, compassionate, and deeply invested in shaping the lives of young people.
Investigations into her murder are ongoing.
