Cape Town warns of road closures due to the Cape Town Cycle Tour

The City of Cape Town has advised residents and motorists to allow for extra travel time on Sunday as various roads will be closed due to the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
The City’s Traffic Spokesperson Kevin Jacobs says the road closures are necessary to ensure the safety of cyclists, spectators and residents.
He has urged motorists to plan their travel in advance and to make use of alternative routes where possible.
“The world-famous cycling event will see thousands of riders taking part in the 109 kilometre route, starting in the city centre and travelling through several areas. Road closures are expected along Nelson Mandela Boulevard, Hospital Bend and the upper freeways as the race travels through the southern suburbs before returning to town. As a result, numerous roads will be closed from the early hours of the morning, particularly along the race route and surrounding feeder routes.”
