The Mitooma district chairman and the NRM strong man Benon Karyeija has revealed that its true that he is campaigning for independent candidate Juliet Bashisha and Capt Mugabe Dononzio kahonda against flag bearers Hon Kyarampe Rabeeca and Hon Arthur Kazoora which is against the NRM party constitution.Karyeija said this on a telephone interview with www.mknewslink.com stressing that the Bashisha and Kahonda are NRM not breaking any NRM party law.He added that Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire once contested as independent in 2016 against Kahonda and lost but the president never removed him from the race hence noting that independents have a right to stand as the president always states. He added that the president never removed Hon Bashisha when he was campaigning in Mitooma on 03rd Dec 2025 but she introduced her to the congregation as a daughter of Bashisha and NRM but contesting on the independent ticket.Bashisha is currently concluding her first term of office as the Mitooma district woman member of parliament but lost in primaries to Hon Kyarampe Rabecca which she did not accept due to alleged irregularities that were embedded in the NRM primary elections.Hon Juliet Bashisha has been very strong in Mitooma before the NRM primaries and has been very close to the 11th parliament deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa as her defectal personal assistant.Hon Bashisha entered parliament in 2021 after defeating Hon Jovah Kamateka who was the first woman MP for Mitooma district.
