Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana and his team at Treasury have received unusual praise from most political parties for the 2026 budget.
Godongwana appeared before Parliament’s Joint Standing & Select Finance and Appropriations Committees.
He tabled the 2026 Budget Fiscal Framework and Revenue Proposals during a sitting of Parliament on Wednesday. Members serving on the committees, complimented Treasury on a budget that is consumer friendly and promotes economic growth.

ACDP chief whip Steve Swart says he is not part of the GNU, but will give credit where it is due, “We have said, the ship is moving in the right direction, yes we need the fiscal anchor for storms, but we welcome the primary surplus. So, I’d like to firstly commend SARS for the revenue that they’ve generated. I think it’s something that should be encouraged because a lot of the revenue that is generated is going to help us to invest in service delivery objectives.”
